As part of its Rwanda Research and Policy Seminars, AKADEMIYA2063 is organizing Session I, themed “Building Resilient Agrifood Systems in Africa: Unpacking the CAADP Agenda – From Maputo to Kampala.” This session will provide an overview of the latest iteration of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP 2026-2035), share key successes and challenges from 20 years of CAADP implementation, and explore avenues for effective implementation.
The session will convene Rwanda’s policymakers, non-state actors, practitioners, researchers, and development partners to discuss knowledge-sharing pathways and identify actionable strategies for research to inform and support the effective implementation of the Kampala CAADP Agenda. Through this session, AKADEMIYA3063 aims to:
1. Build Awareness of the Kampala CAADP Agenda, providing insights on the CAADP Malabo historical context, the Post-Malabo development process, and key thematic areas addressed in the framework for “Building Resilient Agrifood Systems in Africa.”
2. Demonstrate the Role of Data and Analytics in achieving CAADP commitments and the role of national institutions in leveraging data for forward-planning.
3. Highlight Opportunities for Domestication of the Kampala CAADP Agenda in Rwanda, aligning with key national policy frameworks.
4. Discuss Pathways for Knowledge-sharing, learning, and replication of best practices to facilitate the contextualization of the Kampala CAADP Agenda.
