Concept note

The C4SA Foundation and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in collaboration with AKADEMIYA2063 and the UN Joint SDG Fund, are convening a hybrid workshop and launch event for the "African Agrivoltaics Platform" on Friday10 April 2026, at the OECD Headquarters in Paris (Chateau, Room D), and online. The event aims to:

  • Review the evidence base and early case studies on agrivoltaics in African contexts,
  • Identify key policy and financing barriers and enabling tools, and
  • Co-design the core elements of an African-focused initiative, including a 2026 roadmap and options for a blended finance facility to support market development and project-scale deployment.

Bringing together researchers, practitioners, development finance institutions, project developers, investors and representatives of African governments and diplomatic missions, the event will combine technical sessions and facilitated discussions, followed by an engagement and listening session with African diplomatic missions, followed by the formal launch moment of the ‘African Agrivoltaics Platform’ initiative.

By combining scientific evidence, policy reform, and catalytic finance, the initiative seeks to deliver durable development and climate benefits. The Consortium for Sustainable Agrivoltaics (C4SA), together with its scientific, institutional, and development partners, was established to support the design, promotion, and implementation of this initiative in close collaboration with African governments and international stakeholders.
